When you got back to the mansion, it was already sunset. You dragged the items from your shopping back inside. Luciano was sitting on the stairs, his black dress shirt was tied around his waist, leaving him in a black undershirt. He was drinking some cold water and a little bit of sweat was on his brow, hinting at the possibility of him working hard at something.
The guy had some muscle on him. Not too many, like Luzifer but he slight bulge in his upper arm. Luciano waved Chiku and Luzifer to go get the stuff from the car and met you at the base of the stairs.
"Why don't you go bathe for a bit?" Luciano said. "Relax for a bit."
"Really, I don't need to-" You started.
"I insist." Luciano said. "Go. Relax." He pushed you up the stairs and wasn't happy until you agreed to take a bath.
He had placed some nice smelly stuff in the bathroom. It was your favorite scent. You relaxed your tense muscles in the water and washed the scent over your skin. Once you were done, you dried yourself off and made your way to your room with a towel around yourself. The whole place was dark. Not a single light. You ran to your room and opened the door, soft light glowing from the bedside lamp. You were surprised to find something in the corner of your room.
You looked at the dress that was hanging on the mannequin. It was blood red, with several layers on the skirt that trailed out in the back. The edges of the dress were dark red. The sleeves were slim and came down to the elbow before the dark red trim ended it, the trim longer than on the skirt to give the sleeves a flowing look. On the mannequin head was a Venetian mask. It was a cat face, complete with ears. The mask was red, like your dress, with dark red designs. Gold jewels were placed all over the mask, blending in with the designs. Long dark red gloves were on your dresser, along with gold and ruby jewelry. A choker necklace, six small bracelets, three for each hand, a ankle bracelet, earrings and hair pins.
Was this the box that Luciano had yesterday? That package?
You got dressed and put the pins in you hair, followed by the cat mask. It ended right above your lips in a cute little cat smile.
As you opened your door, you gasped at the sight. Lack-o-lanterns lined both walls of the hallway, leading down the stairs. All the pumpkins were carved with Italian, one letter for each pumpkin. You didn't know what they said but they formed words. Every once in a while, a pumpkin would have an arrow pointing at the direction for you to follow. You followed the pumpkins down the stairs and through a set of double doors and down another hallway. The mansion twisted and turned more than you thought! It looked a lot smaller on the outside.
The pumpkins stopped at another set of doors. You pushed them open and they swung easily. You gasped at the sight.
It was a large ballroom. Jack-o-lanterns were along the whole edge or the room. A chandelier held candles. Under that chandelier, there stood Luciano.
He was dressed in an elaborately decorated black dress jacket, a ruffled shirt underneath. His wore black pants and black shoes, a black eye mask covering his face. Everything he wore was decorated in gold.
You walked over to him. "How...why..." You started.
"Do you like it?" Luciano asked you. "I heard you were missing out on a ball at your school so I...made one." By the time he was done talking, he was blushing and barely speaking.
"Luciano, this is beautiful." You breathed. There was a little table under one of the windows. "What's that?" You asked.
"Dinner. Freshly made." Luciano held out his arm at a 90 degree angle from the elbow. You wrapped your arm around his and he led you over to the table. It overlooked the garden and it was the most romantic evening you ever had.
"I can't tell you how much this week meant to me." Luciano said as you began to eat.
"We went from hating each other to…" You trailed off, not sure if it was the right time to say it.
"Lovers." Luciano breathed. "I know." He reached out across the small table and he touched your cheek. "That mask suits you." He commented.
"Who made this?" You asked.
"My cousin, Flavio." Luciano said.
Arthur checked the small gun his had on him for the tenth time. This was the moment. He would kill Luciano and show you how brave he was. That you were meant to be together and nothing would stop him from being with you.
Alfred and Gilbert were armed with some small weapons too. The deal was that they would rush in and demand you back, no harm done. The adults in the group were armed with guns, just in case things got out of hand.
Arthur slid the key into the lock of the gate. He looked up at the emblem. What was that supposed to be? A flower or something? It was ugly. Arthur wrinkled his nose and pushed the gate to the side. He smiled and raised a hand and was greeted by the roar of the crowd he had gathered in a day. The only people who didn't know about it was your family, because bringing you home was going to be a surprise.
"May I have this dance?" Luciano asked you as music began to play.
You put your napkin down and nodded. You took Luciano's arm again and followed the swing of the classical music.
"Just follow me." Luciano whispered as he began to dance. He held you close to him and started dancing a soft waltz to the music.
Arthur tried to open the big front door but it didn't budge. Just as his hope began to fall, Chiku opened up the door, a rare smile across his face.
Arthur smiled back and let everyone in, following after them but Chiku grabbed Arthur's shoulder.
"My reward?" Chiku asked, his red eyes staring the British boy down.
"Ah, your reward." Arthur smiled. He pulled out the small gun.
And shot Chiku in the lower gut.
Chiku froze, his hands rushing to meet the bullet wound. "I…I..." Chiku started.
"May your reward be a merciful God who lightens your punishment in Hell." Arthur sneered before turning away. The group was searching the mansion for you and the Italian.
"So what do the pumpkins say?" You asked, looking around the room as you danced to your third song.
"It's an Italian love poem." Luciano said. "Luizfer, Chiku and I carved them this morning. I arranged the hallways and ballroom while you were shopping. While you were taking a bath, we arranged the pumpkins in the rest of the house.
"It's beautiful." You said.
"No. Do you know what's beautiful?" Luciano asked in a kind tone.
"Hm?" You looked up at him.
"You." Luciano whispered. He leaned in and gave you a soft kiss on the lips.
"Oh, stop it!" You giggled.
Another tune played. This one was faster. Luciano smiled.
"Ah, I've been waiting for this one to play. Just let me lead." He said, taking a firm grip on your waist and hand.
"_____________?" Alfred called out. He was in the upstairs hallway, opening doors to rooms to try and find you. Nope. Not that one. Wrong again. Nope. Next one. Nope Next. Wrong.
Gilbert ran out of a room and up to Alfred. "Dude, you need to take a look at this." He said. He handed a small book to Alfred. Alfred opened it up.
"'I arranged the ball this morning. She's in the bath right now and I'm just sitting here, passing time. God, what I wouldn't give for one more day with her.' What is this?" Alfred turned the page.
"I think it's a journal or something. Who knew these kinds of people actually kept something like a journal?" Gilbert said.
"But…he likes her. And there's no record of her not liking him." Alfred said.
"Does that mean they're in love?" Gilbert asked.
"And if they are, where are they?" Alfred said.
"Does that mean we're going to kill her lover?" Gilbert gasped.
Alfred dropped the book. "We have to find them before Arthur does. Even if she doesn't love him, at least we'd give her the time to explain. Arthur won't."
